Hi, everybody.
I have been getting a lot of requests lately asking for the song lyrics from my new album Darkwood. I decided it would be cool to do a series of posts so I could share those lyrics with you.
First up is Exit, the first song on the album. Exit is a song about the power of the mind. It’s so easy to get stuck in your head and to create problems and scenarios that might not exist, causing us so much pain and turmoil. And sometimes we just can’t help it. Sometimes that’s just how we are. Anxious and scared, depressed and blue, feelings that we wish to push away and hide from but can’t. I wrote this song in one of those moments. For me, music and songwriting are my only escape.
Hope you enjoy and share!
EXIT by Mackenzie Brown
I’m trying to get past these evils
I’m trying to take back my life
I’m tired of all these demons thinking they can steer me right
I’m picking up all the pieces
Putting them back in place
I’m drawing every curtain to let in the light of day
I wake up and take on the new day as it comes
I wake up and take on the new day as it comes
I’m trying to find an exit out of my mind
I’m trying to find an exit out of my mind
I’m trying to find an exit out of my mind
I’m trying to find an exit out of my mind
Believe me when I say
That I’ve been to that place
A world so overgrown with all the thoughts that cause you pain
Embrace that time alone
Then go get face to face
There’s a life unknown, it doesn’t have to be this way
I’m trying to find an exit out of my mind
I’m trying to find an exit out of my mind
I’m trying to find an exit out of my mind
I’m trying to find an exit out of my mind
